Anyway, Yonaka's called her up on the phone, and after the usual 'hi how are you' exchange she blurts out-] Do you want to go to the park with me?

[It's not a date, definitely not, but she's still blushing.]

I--sure. I mean, yes. That would be nice.

[And Karen is clearly just still a little awkward about friend things and not in any way worrying about how to conduct herself on a date.]

Okay. [She probably would've gone there anyway but just in case, it's good to know.]

[And let's fast forward a bit to 3:00 PM the next day, when Karen has arrived. Well, actually, she arrived around 2:45 to make sure she wouldn't be late.]

[Yonaka is there five minutes later than that. She's nervous as soon as she sees Karen there.]

Hi.

[Great start.]

Good afternoon.

[Flawless. Karen offers her hand, in a totally platonic way, she does this with her friends all the time, no really.]

Shall we?

[Yonaka nods, taking Karen's hand and lacing her fingers with hers. She's still too nervous and doesn't really know what to say, despite this being her idea.]

[In that case, it falls to Karen to make a decision. And she decides... that the random direction she's facing now will do fine, and leads her off.]

[Ah, yes, the random direction, with the trees and the benches.]

The park looks nice this time of year.

[Karen's just starting to wonder if she's done something wrong to get the silent treatment when the silence stops being a thing.]

It is. This was a good idea.

[She's just awkward, it's not that.]

Do you come here often?

Not often enough. It really is a lovely sight.

Speaking of which, it's nice to see you again.

[Karen is oblivious to any possible unintended implications of what she just said. She's just playing on the word "sight."]

[Suddenly bright red, did she mean what she just implied? She probably didn't.]

Same- It's nice to see you too, Karen. [She squeezes her hand.]

[Oh, Yonaka blushing is cute. But why? Did she say something weird?

Well. It can't have been a bad kind of weird judging by that squeeze, to which she responds in kind, now blushing slightly as well.]

Shall we sit?

Yeah.

[She lets go of Karen's hand to sit down on a bench. It's a small bench, there's juuuust room enough for two.]

[Who built these benches so small? Maybe it's actually meant as a really wide chair? Karen sits, and can't really avoid pushing up against Yonaka slightly.]

So. How have you been?

I'm okay. Nothing too interesting to talk about, really. What about you?

About the same. Studying when I'm not trying to keep everyone from doing something dumb.

[chasescenes]

How dumb are we talking about?

It involved a house made of cake.

[It was, when they found one in a different world where that actually works. But even then it had a cookie support structure.]
